Here is a personal testimony from Sharon Baker in Australia, and her first Ogham Journey with Michael Conneely’s Ogham Pathways Course: www.oghampathways.com

I have kickstarted an exploration and love of many cultures the biggest being a strong connection to Ireland and the culture of the ancient Celts. I found myself reading a lot of Celtic mythology and Irish history and was thrilled when I happened upon a local man advertising classes in Irish Gaelic. I spent about 3 years with this group of like minded souls thoroughly enjoying the classes. I never became conversational with Irish but it gave me more of an understanding of the old Irish words I was encountering when reading. Slowly but surely I had also formed my own spiritual beliefs that included a strong belief in the interconnectedness of all things and reincarnation. I have always loved nature and feel lost if I have to spend any length of time without the sight of green and the sound of birds. I’m a very creative person and at this time I was also drawn to the very beautiful Celtic illuminated manuscripts and used knotwork and animorphic designs in my own artwork. I’ve studied many things including Counselling, relaxation therapy and transpersonal art therapy this I felt gave me permission to continue to enjoy mythology and showed me how I could use it in my life and the life of others I work with. It also opened up a world of symbols which I use a lot in my art and I also tracked my life and saw symbolic themes running through it. The biggest symbols to feature in my life have been and still are the phoenix, mariners compass, spiral, butterfy and dragonfly all symbols of discovery and transformation to me.

This brings me to present day. I have been working as a Support Worker in mental health recovery and although I feel it’s important work I had been starting to feel hemmed in or limited somehow. In July last year my father passed away after a short illness and although I know on a soul level it was time for him to move on and he is fine I have experienced a lot of grief and dark times since then at the loss of him in my physical world. I had started to question everything in my life and as I said I was feeling really hemmed in and limited because I couldn’t see past what I’m doing now. I even felt totally disconnected from the amazing journey I’m finally taking to Ireland and UK in May – a trip that I’ve been wanting to take for nearly 20 years. Two weeks ago that all seemed to change something clicked into place and for the first time in 6 months I could see and feel myself expanding again. I was drawn to druidry so did a google search and was led to your course which I quickly signed on for. I also made a connection with a beautiful healer in my local area for a tarot reading and this has turned out to be the meeting of two like minded souls. I can see that I will be working for myself offering my blend of healing and creative exploration. Finally most importantly all this has connected me once again to the journey I’m about to take in Ireland and I feel like it’s going to open up my world big time.

So moving on to the journeys I took over the weekend. I was quickly and easily able to establish my divine centre as this is a place I’ve gone to many times. I  took a guided walk down the alder path. I felt it to be a little cool because of the swampiness but at the same time very comforting because I find those kinds of swampy areas magical somehow. I walked down the path and up ahead I saw a light shining through what appeared to be structure of woven branches. As I got closer I met Bran who said “welcome”. This structure was like a little hut with some seats and I sat down next to him. We sat in silence for awhile and then I asked if I could come again and he said yes. I thanked him and continued on the path. I then turned left off the path I did and came across the stone of Fal – a mid sized boulder on even ground with nothing else around it. I felt compelled to place my hands on it and I had an overwhelming feeling of peace. I then stood and looked out over the ocean for a time and then walked to the tower at the end of the Alder path. It appeared as a crumbling ruin like the picture on the handout you have sent me. I walked around and through the ruins for a bit and then made my way back to my divine centre.  I decided to walk the path again yesterday on my own in silence and found Bran in the same place. This time I asked if there was anything I needed to know right now and he said “you are on the right path”. I thanked him and moved on. Again I got no verbal or visual messages from the stone of Fal but I felt it’s strength. This time when I turned to the tower it was no longer a ruin but a tower with a spiral staircase going up the centre. I walked up the stairs and stepped out on the top of the tower. I stood looking out to sea but I found I could also turn and look out across middle earth. Looking around, I could see that a path leads upwards from the tower which is the willow path leading to Magh Mor, the Upperworlds, and that the downward path is Rowan, which leads to Tir Andomain, the Underworlds. I made my way back down the stairs, along the path and back to my divine centre. I found this path to be very comforting and look forward to further journeys.

Here is a Testimonial from Melisande Fitzsimons who comes from Bordeaux:

‘I took the Ogham course with Michael in 2013-14 and enjoyed it thoroughly. I was sometimes puzzled by the signs and symbols I encountered on my journeys, but Michael was always supportive and enlightening in his response. I found his expertise reassuring and he was always available and easy to talk to online. His knowledge of astrology added another layer of knowledge and depth to the journeys, and gave me a wonderful perspective on the course and on my path in life in general. I would definitely recommend this course.’

Here is Melisande Fitzsimmons’ first Ogham Journey:

‘I set off from my Divine Centre and took the alder tree path this morning and this is how it went:
I started the journey on my own, and was swiftly joined by a black crow and a wolf. I then realised I had a strong staff in my hand. I went through forests, rivers, and desolate, Dartmoor-like landscapes before finally reaching Bran in a forest clearing.
He presented me with a stone, on top of which sat a frog. The frog opened its mouth and I was given the gold ring that was inside its mouth. The ring was too big so I stretched it and turned it into an arm bracelet. Bran said that I was safe and that the golden veil around my shoulders stretching all the way down to the ground was protecting me.
I said good bye, etc and then turned left to get to the stone. It was very warm and a golden colour. After placing my hands on it, I turned into a giant oak tree overlooking the sea. The crow sat in my branches and the wolf lay on my roots, keeping himself and my roots warm. It was a lovely feeling. Then I turned back into myself and the stone blessed me. I became very hot and turned a golden colour for a while.
I then retraced my steps to go back to my divine centre. The journey on the way back was a lot shorter and very diverse.
I found the journey easy to make and, as usual when I am journeying, I always encounter a lot of symbols, animals, colours, etc. The thing is that I am not sure what to make of them afterwards, what they represent and how to integrate them in my more mundane, everyday life. I struggle to bridge the 2 dimensions.
Voila! Let me know what you think when you can.

The Ogham is so worth following. See details of Michael Conneely’s worldwide distance learning course: www.oghampathways.com.

The Ogham is a most powerful and beautiful tool for personal growth and spiritual understanding.
It introduces you to a genuine and powerful cosmology of the Celtic Otherworlds that interpenetrate this realm: Middle Earth. Your mind explores and encompasses its vast range of consciousness-states.

It is the alphabet of ancient Druid Ireland. It is beautiful and tantalising, and the Ogham Paths that run  across the Celtic Otherworlds are inhabited by awesome, beautiful, terrifying and inspiring beings.

The Ogham is very ancient and its growth through time showed changes and mergers of different Celtic alphabets, but each Ogham alphabet letter or ‘Few’ represents the soul and energy of a tree.

And each letter or ‘Few’ is also a pathway that run across or between the Celtic Otherworlds which are different, sometimes overlapping states of consciousness inhabited by their own beings.

Study the Ogham

As the tree alphabet of the ancient Irish druids, each letter of the Ogham alphabet epitomises a deep meditation on the energy and wisdom of a tree. Each letter can thus connect us to very special natural-based state of consciousness.

But also the Ogham alphabet provides keys to connecting to the beautiful and inspiring Otherworlds of the ancient Celts and for navigating across and between these, for example the famous Tir na N’Og, the land of eternal Youth, or Magh Mell: the state of Abundance, The Plane of Delight.

The Ogham’s consciousness is very non-lateral, mystical and beautiful. It is very different from the energy of the Runes, which is far more a will-based system.
Each student’s work is unique and lovely. Stage after stage of spiritual growth is gone through. Amazing visionary writing develops. Here is a first sample very kindly offered from the visionary work of Anne Lee, from Washington State USA:

Hawthorn Journey

As I traveled a dark green Holly path absorbing protective energy I seized the Spear of Llugh and held it firmly with a warrior’s grip.  I stepped onto the Oak grove and immediately transformed into an Oak with virile energy.  I thundered along the path as a strong male Oak.  When I reached the Hawthorn forest I transformed into my human form and entered an ethereal feminine fairy world with soft white light and shimmering beauty.  I walked through the forest marveling at the beauty then stopped and hugged one of the trees, suddenly I became a Hawthorn.  My head was adored with white flowers and red berries, my branches were the limbs of a dancer.  Beneath the softness and beauty, thorn daggers warned of my wintry side.  The Oak part of me desired unity with the Hawthorn part.  I returned to the Oak grove and this time entered the Hawthorn forest as an Oak.  I shape-shifted between the two trees but soon my Hawthorn self was crushed by the weight of my Oak self, and the Oak was badly scarred by the thorns of the Hawthorn.

I cannot be two trees at once!  I can be strong or I can be fairy-like but I cannot take on both traits simultaneously as trees anyway.  I suppose that makes sense. The male and female aspects are distinctive so their essence must be invoked and employed separately.  This journey demonstrates the ying-yang of human experience, essential parts that create balance.  I can draw upon Oak for strength and courage and invoke Hawthorn to radiate softness and beauty.  Interestingly, I identify more strongly with the qualities of Underworld trees.  This was my first experience of “maleness” and it was liberating.

David Hawkins’ ‘Levels of Consciousness’ Analysis System

David Hawkins’ ‘Levels of Consciousness’ Analysis System

Albion by William Blake

David Hawkins’ ‘Levels of Consciousness’ Analysis System

(See David Hawkins Transcending the Levels of Consciousness, p. 373)

How we interpret what happens in our life, and in the lives of others, depends on our level of consciousness.

In Astrology too this obviously applies. An astrologer can be downright incompetent and untrained (I know one who set up as an astrologer in a very low level of consciousness Center only six months after beginning to read astrology books: She is now taking in ironing and the Center is hardly used) or the astrologer can be very competent and know many routines and rules in a very mechanistic legalistc way but can’t apply them to the human soul or heart.

I also teach the Druid Path and certainly in the Druid Path there are loads of rituals memorised by rote, not from the heart, and loads of group leaders into ego and control attacking others.

The same has sadly been true fo the Christian Churches: I was brought up a Catholic and my own childhood was made desolate by the fact that Saint Patrick converted Ireland! (www.druidforestschool.com)

And Level of Consciousnes can be calibrated.

I have been practising kundalini meditaiton with Steven Sadleir in California (www.selfawareness.com) and Helen Hamilton in Yorkshire, England (www.manifestmydreams.weebly.com) – both of these teach and transmit energy all over the world>

With these two enlightened teachers, the meditaiton is founded on the immense and powerful healing and consciousness-raising transmission of the energy of Connection to Source (What in Hinduism is called Shaktipat energy), and this also connects us to our True Self who exists eternally and is one with God.

Dr. Hawkins’ scale is from 1 to 1000, where 1000 represents Buddha or Christ Consciousness. The numbers on the scale represent logarithmic calibrations (measurable vibratory frequencies on a scale which increases to the tenth power) of the levels of human consciousness and its corresponding level of reality. The numbers themselves are arbitrary; the significance lies in the relationship of one number (or level) to another. He advocates the use of kinesiology to determine the level of consciousness of a person, theory or book.

In very brief summary, here are the consciousness levels outlined by David Hawkins:
20: Shame
30: Guilt
50: Apathy
75: Grief
100: Fear
125: Desire
150: Anger
175: Pride
200: Courage
250: Neutrality
310: Willingness
350: Acceptance
400: Reason
500: Love
540: Joy
600: Peace
700-1000: Enlightenment

Although Hawkins goes into great detail about the various levels of consciousness, he points out two turning points as most crucial to allow for major advancement:

The first turning point is at 200, the initial level of empowerment: Here, the willingness to stop blaming and accept responsibility for one’s own actions, feelings, and beliefs arises – as long as cause and responsibility are projected outside of oneself, one will remain in the powerless mode of victimhood. Two hundred, the level of Courage, represents a profound shift from lower level vibrations which are destructive and harmful to life-affirming, positive lifestyles; everything below 200 makes one go weak using kinesiology.
The level of Fear which promotes Anxiety is at 100 and the level of Anger which promotes Hate is at 150.
Currently, approximately 78% of the world’s population is below this significant 200 level. The destructive potential of this majority drags down all of mankind were it not for the counterbalancing effect of the 22% at the higher levels.
Some of the major crimes against humanity, such as the Holocaust, and the recent genocides in Bosnia and Rwanda could be said to have derived from Fear.

The second turning point is at the 500 level, which is reached by accepting love and non-judgemental forgiveness as a lifestyle, exercising unconditional kindness to all persons, things, and events without exception.” (Hawkins 2002, 238). The level of 500 is Love. Love in this context is a way of being in the world – not emotionality as most of us perceive it. According to Dr. Hawkins, the reason the level of Love is so difficult to achieve is because our ego is deeply rooted in the physical domain as opposed to the spiritual domain, which emerges at 500.

The 400s represent the level of reason, guided by the linear, mechanistic world of form (our modern society that includes advancements in medicine, science, government, etc.). Interestingly, the top echelon of intellectual genius, including Einstein, Freud, Newton, Aristotle, etc., all calibrated around 499.

The 500s represent a very difficult hurdle as only four percent of the world’s population calibrates in the 500s. This level denotes a shift from the linear, provable domain (classic physics or Newtonian physics) to the nonlinear, formless, spiritual realm.

The above two thresholds are primary challenges for many individuals today. Moving beyond them represents a significant barrier which can only be overcome through a significant shift in personality. After moving beyond these realms, progression into increasingly higher states is very natural and less challenging.

Problems of lost communications, misdirected emails and computer problems at the moment?

Budha Mercury

Buddha Mercury

I think quite often, as an influence for everyone, this is a reflection of the position of the Moon in the heavens, and of course the position Mercury’s position in the heavens too. ‘As Above, so Below’ (Hermetic Dictum).

The influence of the position of the Moon in the heavens day by day is vast, and totally not understood by western astrology. Vedic astrology has a wonderful calculation process to assess the influence of the phase and position of the Moon day-by-day called Tithi. The influence of the Tithi, or Moon phase for the day you were born under is absolutely immense in your life.

Mercury is a very dicey planet. He is a chameleon who takes his energy (benefic or malefic) from the sign he’s in or the planets around him. You never know where you are with ….)

And then of course, as another energetic influence affecting everyone on issues of communications, there’s also the periods of Mercury Retrograde.

And another influence affecting everyone is when transiting planets in the heavens today are at the edge of a sign, in other words changing signs, especially if they are malefic planets. We have got quite a few of these at the moment: Rahu (North Node), Ketu (South Node), Saturn and Mars, all malefic planets.

All these influences affect everyone: and the divine purpose is to note them in an enlightened way and develop enlightened consciousness out of the experiences they offer.

But then of course there are our own individual energies and karmas that the daily position of the planets interacts with and feeds.

So on the matter of communications problems for us as individuals, it is a question of how these two are interacting with the planets and houses in our OWN INDIVIDUAL birth chart.

I was having terrible communications issues earlier this week and computer melt-down. I sent an Ogham Journey to a Vedic Astrology student (obviously she needs to connect to the sacred energy of trees. Two of my Ogham Journeys ended up in someone’s email ‘Spam’.

Ketu, the South Nodes of the Moon

Ketu, the South Node of the Moon

Ketu has just entered the Vedic or sidereal sign of Pisces, and is therefore in the 27th, or final, of the 27 Vedic lunar signs or Nakshatras, which is called Revati, where my natal Moon is. Now, Revati is ruled by Mercury, so the Mercury principle in the heavens is dissolved by the malefic influence of Ketu the transiting South Node, but we can find spiritual learning thereby.

The whole purpose of Ketu, the South Node, is to bring us to enlightenment by sucking up the smoke of illusion created by our obsessions and delusions, our instinctual drives and dysfunctional patterns.

In fact the position of the Nodes of the Moon in our Vedic birth charts is used in Vedic Astrology as an indication of our incarnational life purpose this time: out of darkness, the light of enlightenment.
